Food Safety

The Food Safety Act 1990 is the foundation of domestic UK food law. There are several provisions in the 1990 Act which can be traced back to reforming legislation of the ninteenth century and which have stood the test of time.

The focus of food law has, however shifted from the adulteration of food, through biological contamination to the modern day preoccupation with what can industrial food processors get away with putting in our food to cut corners and add 'value'.
